World Telecom and Information Society Day observed

SRINAGAR, MAY 17: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu & Kashmir State Centre, in collaboration with National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar today held a seminar to observe ‘World Telecommunication and Information Society Day-2019.

More than 100 people including representatives of mobile service providers participated in the seminar, which focused on the theme ‘Bridging the Standardization Gap’.

On the occasion, Dr. (Prof.) Rakesh Sehgal, Director, National Institute of Technology Srinagar, who was also the Chief Guest on the occasion, stressed on conducting such seminars to boost the concept of modern technologies which are important in the day-to-day life of people.

In his welcome address, Er. Aamir Ali, Chairman of the Institution of Engineers said that Telecommunication has made the world a Global Village and percolated in every aspect of modern day life.

“Due to technological advancement, telecommunication has waved out traditional and conventional concepts and empowered a wide range of new digital technologies, which involves Artificial Intelligence, The Internet of Things, Unmanned Vehicles, 3D printing, 5G network, Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Machine Learning, Advanced Robotics, to mention a few,” he said.

Managing Director J&K State Road Transport Corporation, Bilal Ahmad Bhat and Er. Ajaz Ahmad Mir, Associate Professor NIT Srinagar also spoke on the occasion.
