Bhadarwah, May 18 : Curfew remained imposed in Bhadarwah town of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday for third consecutive day even as the police constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the killing of an elderly man.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shabir Ahmed Malik said the situation was peaceful in the area and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate the murder of Nayeem Ahmad Shah (50).
According to police, no untoward incident took place since yesterday in any part of the communally sensitive town or elsewhere, where killing of Nayeem triggered massive protests and group clashes on Thursday, forcing the authorities to impose indefinite curfew.
The newly constituted SIT along with a team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Jammu visited the crime scene this morning to collect the evidence.
“We have also seized the weapon (12 bore Gun) and sent it to FSL Jammu, besides we are investigating the case from all angles,” said SP Raj Singh Gouria who heads the SIT.
