Srinagar, May 22 : An army soldier was killed and seven others injured in a blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar area of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
The blast took place when an army patrolling party was moving near a forward post in Dhera Dabsi area, reported news agency.
In the explosion, eight soldiers suffered injuries and were evacuated to nearby army’s health facility where one soldier succumbed, said the report while quoting sources.
A senior police officer confirmed the death of an army soldier and injuries to seven others, added the report. The nature of the blast is being ascertained, he said.
There was no immediate confirmation from the army.
