Rohtak, May 27:A woman delivered a baby girl in a toilet at the Meham General Hospital in the district on Saturday. The woman’s husband and other family members alleged negligence on part of the hospital staff and the Rohtak Civil Surgeon has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Jaspal, a resident of Bedwa village in the district, said he had brought his wife Sharmila to the hospital for delivery on Friday night.

“A staff nurse examined my wife and said the delivery was likely in the morning. On Saturday morning, my wife went to the washroom, where she delivered a baby girl. This shows negligence on part of the hospital staff,” he said.

Dr Anil Birla, Rohtak Civil Surgeon, said he had directed the senior medical officer at the hospital to probe the matter. “Prima facie it does not seem to be a case of negligence, but the matter is being looked into and strict action will be taken if any staff member is found responsible,” he said.
