Awareness activities held in Jammu city

JAMMU, JUNE 06: Series of awareness activities were held in different parts of the city by environment wing (Forest department) in connection with the World Environment Week being observed from June 5 to June 11, 2018.

The events were organized by the Department on the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution “to generate awareness among the masses. An awareness stall was established at Ranbir Library Chowk Kachi Chawni.

Around four hundred medicinal plants of different species and publicity material was distributed among the public at the venue along with display of cloth banners with messages of the Theme.

A programme on the theme was organized at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu with Dr. Manhas Medical Superintendent of the Hospital as the chief guest. The DFO Environment highlighted the objectives of this campaign and interacted with the public present on this occasion. The department also distributed eco-friendly Jute/carry bags among all visitors and advised them to avoid the use of Polythene bags.

At the end, light refreshment in ecofriendly made products and Sharbat was served among the august gathering during both events.
