Secy RDD reviews implementation of Umeed scheme in Kashmir division
SRINAGAR, JUNE 03: Secretary Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, today convened a meeting to review the performance of centrally-sponsored Umeed (J&KSRLM) scheme in Kashmir division.
Mission Director, J&KSRLM, Abdul Rashid Var and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
During the meeting, the Secretary was apprised by Mission Director J&KSRLM, about the implementation of scheme in the division. It was given out that the Mission apart from covering all the 22 districts of the state has federated as many as 346423 Households into 38443 Self Help Groups (SHGs). It was also briefed in the meeting that Rs. 148.78 crore have been availed by SHGs.
Speaking on the occasion, Nanda exhorted upon the officers to develop the capacity of community cadre in local immersion sites and making community federation (VOs/ CLFs) financially sustainable.
She directed the officials to gear up at grossroots level and achieve the set targets within the stipulated time frame.
“Self-help groups should be made self-sustainable as it is a revenue-generating enterprise for stakeholders. It would provide women the opportunity to participate actively and get engaged in manufacturing and distribution of products,” she added.
