Ludhiana June 14:A major fire broke out in three hosiery units in Shivpuri on Noorwala Road in the wee hours of Friday. The firemen were struggling to douse the blaze when the reports last came in.
The factory is situated in a residential area. All three factories have three-storeys and there were no fire safety arrangements. Fire tenders from Ludhiana, Samrala and Jagraon were pressed into service.The fire started at 3 am in a hosiery unit and spread to the two adjoining hosiery units.
When the fire started some workers there in the factory and they rushed out to save their lives.Police and administrative officials rushed to the spot.
Due to the intense fire, the buildings have developed cracks and there is a risk of their falling down.
