DLSA organizes seminar on Inter -generational bonding for promoting Ageing with Dignity

UDHAMPUR, JUNE 14: As  part of weeklong awareness campaign  launched  by  District Legal Services Authority Udhampur under “Ageing with Dignity” for elderly persons,  a seminar on topic “Intergenerational Bonding for promoting Ageing with Dignity “ was held today at Sher-e- Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur .

The event was a  part of  weeklong programme “Ageing with Dignity” campaign held by the DLSA in collaboration with District  & Police administration under the Chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge, Mohan Lal Manhas and overall supervision of  Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur, Sandeep Kour.

The event was attended by educationists, Senior citizens, Youths and officers for civil and police administration including SSP Rajiv Pandey.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DLSA and Secretary DLSA laid stress upon the programmes for strengthening  inter generational bonding so that elderly people could live with dignity. They added that the  concept of organizing  ageing with Dignity week  is  to connect the old and young through activities to build a bridge among the generations and also share their experience as well as recognizing and learning about the skills and insights of younger people.

They further added that sharing their life experiences with the younger generation can help elders feel a greater sense of fulfillment.

They advocated that youths should build a better relationship with their aged family members and create a more polite and positive mindset towards the elderly.

Speakers including writer and historian Shiv Nirmohi, Dr Chander Shekhar HOD Psychology Department University of Jammu, Educationist Vandana Mahajan , Dy Chief Warden Civil Defence Swatenter Dev Kotwal, Variender Sharma  and Retainer Laywer  Sanjit Kumar and Karun Raina  highlighted various problems being faced by elderly people  in the society besides suggesting measures to promote Intergenerational Bonding.

Later, a colorful cultural programme was also presented by renowned Dogri artist Romaloo Ram and party on the occasion which enthralled the audience.
