JAMMU, 21 JUNE: Director School Education Jammu, Ms. Anuradha Gupta has expressed profound grief and deep anguish over the tragic drowning of Sohaib Malik, a 12 th class student of Government Higher Secondary School Ghat in river Neeru of District Doda.
On 14th June a class 12th Student of Government Higher Secondary School Ghat (Doda) drowned in the Neeru Nallah on Doda Bhaderwah road.
As per reports, the incident took place at about 05:45 pm when three persons (students) were taking bath near the river bank, when one of them identified as Sohaib Malik S/o Farooq Ahmed Malik R/o Hanch Malna slipped into the river stream and immediatly drowned in the deep waters.
Soon after getting information, natives of the area raised an alarm whereas a team of Local NGO (Ababeel) along with some local divers started rescue operation to fish out the body from the river. Later on government agencies also joined the search operation but to no avail as the body could not be retrieved.
Search and rescue operations are being taken up by government agencies, local divers and volunteers on daily basis to retrieve the body.
Extending her heartfelt concern to the grief stricken family, Director School Education, Ms. Anuradha Gupta expressed solidarity with the parents and next of kins of Sohaib in this hour of need.
Director Shool Education, Ms. Anuradha Gupta has asked the Chief Education Officer Doda and Principal GHSS Ghat (Doda) to provide every possible help and support to the family.
