Chandigarh, June 21: Prof. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER and the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of Yoga in “prevention of non-communicable diseases and promotion of health” and motivated the students to practice yoga regularly, during a morning yoga session held at PGIMER to celebrate International Yoga Day.
Dr. Sandhya Ghai, Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE) along with the NSS unit organized the International Yoga Day at the Sports Complex, PGIMER. Students of NINE performed yoga.
International Yoga protocol was conducted by Yoga therapist Ms. Meetu, Ms. Samita and Ms. Shikha from Govt. College of Yoga education and health Chandigarh which included prayer, shithilikaran, yogasanas like taaraasan, ushtrashan, shashankaasan, virkshaasana, PaadhastAssana, Makar Aasana, BhujangAasana etc., Pranayam and Dhyanam.
250 NSS volunteers along with Director PGI, Prof. Jagat Ram, Dean PGI Prof. G.D.Puri, PGI DMS Ashok Kumar, Principal Dr. Sandhya Ghai NINE faculty , PGI employees and programme officers Ms. Meenakshi Agnihotri and Ms. Shabana Perveen actively participated in the event
