Bathinda, June 21:Gurjot Singh, 21, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Brampton in Canada on June 18.
Gurjot Singh, a resident of Thamangarh village in Maur sub-division of the district, had gone to Canada for higher studies a year ago. Someone from had Canada called up Gurjot’s uncle, Avtar Singh, and gave him the news about his demise.Gurjot is survived by his mother and sister. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and SAD MLA Manjinder S Sirsa also tweeted on the unfortunate incident.
Jaishankar wrote: An unfortunate incident! Standing in solidarity with family of Gurjot Singh from Bathinda who was shot dead in Brampton I urge @DrSJaishankar Ji to support the family by ensuring that the dead body reaches his village at the very earliest.
