SFs burst teargas shells to disperse demonstrators in Tral

Srinagar, June 26: Security forces burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse demonstrators who hit the stands immediately after encounter ensued in the forest area, about 9 km from Tral in Pulwama district on Wednesday.

People, mostly youths, hit the streets at main chowk Tral and some other area raising slogans and pelting stones on security forces and state police personnel deployed to maintain law and order. Security forces immediately swung into action and resorted to lathicharge which had no impact on demonstrators, who were regrouping and continued stone pelting.

Later, security forces burst teargas shells to chase away the demonstrators. Business and other activities were affected due to clashes, official sources said, adding additional security forces have been rushed there.

A militant was killed by the security forces in the encounter which ensued during the Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Branpatheri forest in Tral.
