DC Shopian to act tough non serious contractors.

Shopian: Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed today called a meeting to review the ongoing developmental works especially under the Public Works Department. He took detailed account of ongoing projects of health department, school education department and particularly upgradation of roads by way of macdamisation in district Shopian.
During the meeting it was discussed that 42 kilometers of road connectivity are in proposal for macadamisation and out of which five km have been black coated this financial year till now.
He was apprised by the concerned department that certain contractors are not taking their work seriously and have not yet started the work even after more than 20 days of allotment.
Acting tough on such contractors, Dr Owais directed the Executive Engineer PWD to issue notices to such non serious contractors to immediately take up the work alloted to them. He said that any further delay will invite action against such contractors.
DDC also reviewed the progress of Shopian-Zainpora-Brijbehara road and directed the concerned departments to expedite the pace of work which was not found satisfactory.
DDC also directed the officials to remain present at the sites of development works and continuously visit the spots to avoid any kind of delay in them.
DDC further said that district administration is committed to provide basic facilities for the masses. He said that the delay in execution of work not only increased the risk of not completing the project in one financial year but also causes problems for the public. It is because of this reason that unnecessary delays in work shall not be tolerated.
