Feroz Khan for community participation in education system
KARGIL JULY 13: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan today said that the active participation of community in the management of teaching learning activities in Government run schools in the district can play a pivotal role in giving a new meaning to educational activities in such schools. This he said would pave a way for major revamp in the educational scenario of the Government run schools in the years to come.
The CEC stated this while addressing parents, teachers and students during the School Annual Day Celebrations at Government Higher Secondary School Akchamal, here today.
Councillor Poyen Akchamal Muhammad Amin, Chief Education Officer Kargil Nazir Ahmed Wani, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil Haji Muhammad Jaffar, Assistant Director Information Kargil Muhammad Ali Tak, Principal Higher Secondary School Akchamal Ajaz Ahmad, Sarpanchs, Panchs, prominent people of the area, other concerned officers besides teaching and non-teaching staff were also present on the occasion.
Feroz Khan while citing the examples of Pilot High School Lankore and the Pilot Middle Schools at Karith, Beathang, Handurman Broq, Samar Pashkum, Lankarchey Broq and Shargole said that these Government run schools have set a new example in the history of the district which was only possible due to the active involvement of the community members. He said all out support would be extended to uplift those schools where the members of the community involve themselves actively in school management affairs.
The CEC made particular mention of Pilot Middle School Karith and praised the creativity, innovative methods, novel concepts and dedication of the teachers for taking the educational activities to a new high in this institution. He said that need of the hour is that other schools also emulate such practices which would yield rich dividends.
Feroz Khan while appreciating the teachers and School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) members for having organized a successful school annual day event expressed optimism that the step will have positive bearing on the overall personality development of children. He also appreciated the children for wonderful rendering of their performances.
The CEC urged teachers to strive hard to hone the skills of students in both curricular and co-curricular activities in line with their interest and aptitude and stressed on maintaining a healthy balance between the two which he said would equip them with the necessary skills to compete effectively at different levels.
While responding to various demands and issues pertaining to the school, the CEC assured the management that all genuine concerns would be addressed in a phased manner. He said that hand pump will be installed in the school premises within two days time while as stage for the recreation hall will also be put up within days.
In the case of certain demands, the CEC directed the officers to prepare proposal for the construction of mini stadium and hand ball court in the school premises.
Councillor Poyen Akchamal Muhammad Amin also spoke on the occasion and assured of all support for giving boost to such student centric events in the area.
Meanwhile, students presented a number of colourful programs which included recitation of Naat e Sharif, Qawali, Balti and Ladakhi folk music and dance, Kashmiri Rouf and a skit on the role of parents in education system which mesmerized the audience and won thundering rounds of applause.
Later, the CEC along with other guests distributed certificates and mementoes among the meritorious students of 10th, 11th and 12th classes besides other students for their noteworthy contribution in co-curricular extracurricular activities.
