Rs 2.55-lakh fake currency seized in Panchkula

Panchkula, July 26: The police recovered a huge quantity of narcotics and Rs 2.55 lakh in fake currency here this evening. 

They received information about illegal narcotics trade in Rajiv Colony near Sector 17. A police team, led by SHO Naveen Kumar, raided the colony, but could not arrest anyone as the suspects had fled. 

However, the police found a huge quantity of drugs and counterfeit currency. 

An informer told the police late last night that a large quantity of drugs had reached Rajiv Colony, which was to be supplied to local youths.

When the police reached the spot, the suspects had fled. On a search, the police found the fake currency. At first, they did not suspect that the Rs 500 notes were fake. They called an expert, who informed that Rs 2.55 lakh was in counterfeit currency. 

The police recovered 21 kg of ganja, swords, knives, sharp weapons and 113 gm of charas from the spot. 

A case has been registered at the Sector 14 police station.
