Call about bomb at Chandigarh’s Elante sets off search operation

Chandigarh, August 12: Chandigarh Police emptied Elante Mall and conducted a search inside on Monday after they got a call about a bomb on the premises.

After visitors were asked to leave the mall, police teams, including units from the police’s operation cell and its bomb disposal squad, sealed off the area and conducted a search operation. Bomb disposal team, anti-sabotage teams, operation cell teams, crime branch teams and local police teams are also conducting intensive searches of the area around the mall. 

The mall’s security team has also joined the search operation.UT Senior Superintendent of Police Nilambari Jagdale said that police control room got a call saying there was an explosive inside the mall.

The caller refused to identify himself. Police say the called made an internet voice call, and would take longer than usual to identify him.Chandigarh Police said although no explosive was found so far, they were taking no chances.
