Jammu, August 28: Notwithstanding the claims of successive governments on improving education standards in J&K, a candidate scoring only 5 out of 180 marks in the Common Entrance Test (CET) is eligible for admission in the state’s engineering colleges.
The test was conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination on April 28. Since a large number of seats are vacant, the board has decided that candidates not allotted a seat during the mopping-up round but who have appeared in the CET and scored five marks will be considered for admission.
Falling standards
- There are 2,304 seats in various engg streams in J&K
- 5,511 appeared in CET this year
- Over 600 scored 5 or less marks
