Gurdaspur, September 4: At least 12 people were reportedly killed and many injured after fire broke out in a firecracker factory in Batala on Wednesday.
The firecrackers were to be used on Guru Nanak Dev’s marriage anniversary celebrations tomorrow.
Unofficial reports peg the dead at 15. Massive crowds prevent rescue of the injured many of whom are buried under debris.
Ambulances, fire tenders are being rushed from Gurdaspur and Amritsar. DC, Gurdaspur, Vipul Ujwal has reached the spot along with SSP Upinderjit Singh Ghuman.More than 100 policemen are on the spot as well.
