Jammu: Directorate Of School Education Jammu organised a District Level Science Exhibition under Samagra Shiksha 2019, through District Institute Of Education ( DIET) Jammu at Government High School Gandhi Nagar, which witnessed enthusiastic participation of students, staff members amongst a galaxy of dignitaries including Commissioner Secretary Ms. Sarita Chauhan, Director School Education Jammu Ms. Anuradha Gupta and SPD Samagra Shiksha Dr. Arun Manhas.
170 Government Schools from all the 15 zones of District Jammu participated in the event and displayed around 177 Science Models on the themes like Water Harvesting, Flood Alarm Systems, Disaster Management, Solar Power, Bio Pesticides, Lift Irrigation, Global Warming, Soil Conservation, Waste Management etc. The prize winning models came from GHSS Jajjar Kotli, GBHSS Gandhi Nagar, and GGHSS Canal Road, being declared 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Commissioner Secretary Ms. Sarita Chauhan, praised the efforts of the students and teachers who had come up with innovative ideas to solve day to day issues through workable models. Speaking on the occasion, she said that such exhibitions and model making not only help the students in understanding the concepts better but can actually be used by government agencies and other institutions for practical purposes.
Director School Education Jammu, Ms. Anuradha Gupta while expressing her satisfaction over the event, said that such exhibitions are a regular feature in Government Schools to inculcate scientific temper amongst the students and helps them to learn and understand how scientific concepts can be used in day to day life. While praising the students she said that the express aim of such events is to develop a ” spirit of inquiry ” amongst the students.
