New Delhi, December 31: It’s been a week since the families of two missing doctors from Andhra Pradesh have been running from pillar to post trying to trace them after they went missing in Delhi.
Himabindu, a resident of Delhi, and Dilip Satya, a resident of Chandigarh, have been missing from the city under suspicious circumstances since December 25.
On the morning of December 25, Satya, who had gone to Puducherry for the JIPMER entrance exam counselling session, made a brief stopover in Delhi on his way back to Chandigarh.
Himabindu’s husband Sridhar, a senior resident at the AIIMS who was at work at the time, told their close friend Satya that Himabindhu was home and suggested him to go there and rest before leaving for Chandigarh. Satya went there and Himabindhu later told Sridhar that they intended to visit a nearby church before Satya left.
Since that afternoon, there has been no news of the two doctors. Sridhar repeatedly called up his wife but there was no response. Fearing something was amiss, Sridhar went to the nearby churches but there was no sign of the two. The distraught husband approached the police. Meanwhile, families of Himabindu and Satya arrived in Delhi to help in the search.
The police tried to trace the whereabouts through cell phone locations, call data and bank accounts but failed to make headway. Even the driver of the Uber cab that Satya had booked said he returned from the pickup location when there was no response to his calls.
But with all their efforts coming to a naught, the families now fear the worst. Sridhar told IANS, “It’s been a week and there’s no news. I fear they have been kidnapped, even murdered. They didn’t have cash to think that they might have gone somewhere.”
Himabindu hails from Proddatur while Sridhar hails from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. Satya hails from Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh and lives in Chandigarh with wife Divya.
Himabindu and Sridhar have been living in Delhi for the past six years and were planning to return to their hometown in the near future.
Sridhar said the three of them had been friends for 12 years and Satya had helped the two of them get married. He said his wife and Satya were like brother and sister. He also denied there were any threats to them.
The families now have approached the media in the hope that some leads could emerge if they spread the word of their disappearance. IANS
