Muktsar, January 9: A constable, deputed with former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, was found dead in a canal in Bathinda on Thursday.
Harjot Singh was a resident of Badal village.
An OSD of Badal said, “We are present in the Bathinda civil hospital. We are yet to get a report on whether there are injury marks on his body or not.”
Harjot’s father was also in the police and had been attached with the Badals’ security team. He had passed away about nine years ago and thereafter Harjot got his job on compassionate grounds.
Harjot’s mother retired as principal of Government Primary School, Badal. His wife is a government teacher.
A friend of the deceased, also a resident of Badal village, said, “I just came to know that Harjot’s body has been found from a canal. It has shocked everyone. As of now, nobody knows the reason behind his death. His grandfather too had passed away recently.”
