New Delhi, February 7: BJP lawmaker Parvesh Verma is claiming the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supplies biryani to anti-government protesters at Shaheen Bagh, a south-east Delhi neighbourhood, with bribe money collected by a Delhi government bureaucreat.

That bureaucrat, Gopal Krishna Madhav, is the Officer of Special Duty to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. He was arrested Thursday by the CBI and is accused of receiving a bribe of Rs 2 lakh.

Sisodia has welcomed the arrest and asked for strict punishment, but Parvesh Verma sees things differently.

“All this money goes into his pocket,” Verma claimed, referring to Manish Sisodia. “And he uses this money to send Shaheen Bagh biryani.”

Parvesh Verma is the MP from West Delhi and one of several BJP leaders who have targeted the demonstration at Shaheen Bagh, an neighbourhood close to the banks of the Yamuna river that has come to symbolise the movement against the amended citizenship law.

He has twice been slapped with temporary campaign bans — first, for claiming the demonstrators were capable of rape and murder, and then, for calling Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a terrorist.
