New Delhi, February 26: The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Jammu and Kashmir Administration on Iltija Mufti’s petition challenging the detention of her mother and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti under the J&K PSA.

The Public Safety Act (PSA) has been slapped on former Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, the stringent Act, which allows detention up to two years without a trial.

A three-judge Bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra asked the Jammu and Kashmir Government to file response to Iltija’s petition by March 18, the next date of hearing, after her counsel Nitya Ramakrishnan said there were no valid grounds to detain her under the special law.

She has challenged the February 5 detention order issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Administration.
