Govt efforts to bring developmental revolution in Kargil district: Anayat Ali

SRINAGAR, JUNE 14: Chairman, J&K Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali has expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the government functionaries for kick-starting the developmental era in the far-flung, unconnected areas of district Kargil. He said the people of Kargil are highly thankful to the present government headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Minister for R&B Naeem Akhter for sanctioning various developmental projects in the hilly district.

Chairman said that the present government has sanctioned many projects in the state in various sectors through PMGSY, CRF, NABARD and it is for the first time since last 40 years, that almost all the areas in district Kargil have been covered under the said. Government has recently sanctioned the projects under NABARD, CRF and PMGSY for Rs 324.37 crore in aggregate for construction of Roads and bridges which would indeed lessen the miseries of the people living in the areas which remain almost cut off from main Kargil especially during harsh winters.

The Government has also sanctioned the up gradation of Middle, High and Higher Secondary Schools and highest number of schools has been upgraded only in district Kargil besides the development works executed in the district under UDDAN.

Other remarkable step taken by the government was to provide the people of Kargil, Drass and Padum (Zanskar) with the facility of Helicopter, which was the long pending demand of the people. It has also regularized the services of DRWs of PDD and PDC of District Kargil which has really given a sigh of relief to all of them and their families who have suffered a lot on this account.

It is in the recent past that the Prime Minister has laid the foundation for Zojila Tunnel which is indeed as a dream come true for the people of the state, especially Leh and Kargil which would in future on its completion change the economic situation in both the districts of Leh and Kargil, he added.

Giving details of the developmental works, he said that projects have been sanctioned under CRF at an aggregate cost of Rs 78.26 crore which includes widening, up gradation of road from circular road to Degree College via Poyen at a cost of Rs 16.89 crore, construction of Link road Karsha to Rkongchet Zanskar cost of Rs 11.5 crore, widening of road from NH-1D to Archoo Cheskore Kargil for cost Rs 19.7 crore, widening of road Broglungma, Wakha, Sherling, Wakha, Sarak Khangral, Kukstay and Link road Tumail to Grongyur Grong and Lungma Broq for Cost Rs 35.62 crore.

Under NABARD, projects having total cost of Rs 13.62 crore have been sanctioned including construction of Link Road Garpora Apti to Tumail Broq via Chamba, construction of 1×50 mtr span steel girder bridge over Singh at Markalaga Photsathang Kargil and Up-gradation of link road Chanchik.

Chairman further said that the Government has approved 23 number of projects under PMGSY of which Rs 232.490 crore in aggregate for the year 2018-19 has been allocated for the purpose for developmental works in Kargil which is really remarkable and almost all the areas would be covered.

There are many other projects which are in the pipeline and expected to be executed in the near future, Chairman said. These projects includes, construction of 1×30 Mtr span motor able bridge at Congma Tangloe, Gongma Gato Lankerchey link road, Mongrong Sankoo link road, Tangzur Kargee link road, Construction of link road Karam Bagh to Chomo Shukpa Fokar, Widening construction of Narroq stretch of link road of Shakar Sapi, up-gradation of link road from Razvi road kousar to Masleh Mahadia Sankoo/Barbursay link road from Baniyalsa to Barbursay Sankoo, widening/up-gradation if link road Kurtan Mulbek and construction of link road Tazethang Stakpa Khaws and Kanoor to Trespone.

Terming the initiatives taken by the government in Kargil district as beginning of new era of development, Haji Anayat Ali said that the people living in district Kargil would be surely benefitted and these projects will also helps in changing the socio-economic profile of the people.
