Jaish-e-Mohammad militant arrested in Kashmir’s Baramulla

Srinagar, April 9: A suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad militant was arrested in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

Police identified the arrested militant as Bashir Ahmad Beigh, a resident of Shirpora.

He was arrested during a cordon and a search operation which was carried out during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

“A cordon and a search operation were launched in Shumlarn area of Chandusa Baramulla after a specific information regarding presence of terrorists. During a joint cordon and search operation one person tried to escape from cordon area who was tactfully overpowered by alert cordon party,” Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom said.

“The terrorist revealed his identity as Bashir Ahmad Beigh and is affiliated with JeM. From his possession one AK 47 rifle, two Ak magazines, 40 AK rounds were recovered,” he said.

” The arrested militant is the same person who was involved in luring two young boys of the area to join terrorist ranks in the last week of March 2020,” SSP Qayoom added.
