08 new positive cases reported today, 55498 persons under observation

JAMMU, APRIL 14: The Government Tuesday informed that eight new positive cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), 02 from Jammu and 06 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 278.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 278 positive cases, 244 are Active Positive, 30 have recovered and 04 have died. Out of the total recovered patients, 14 patients from Kashmir division were discharged today from CD Hospital Srinagar and SKIMS Soura. 

Furthermore, till date 55498 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance which include 7760 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 365 in Hospital Quarantine, 244 in hospital isolation and 30952 under home surveillance. Besides, 16173 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period.

The Bulletin further said that out of 4619 test reports available, 4341 samples have tested as negative till April 14, 2020.

Providing district wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 73 positive cases wherein 62 are Active Positive, 10 recovered and 01 has died, Bandipora 53 positive cases with 44 Active Positive, 08 recovered and  01 died, Baramulla 40 positive cases with 39 Active Positive, no case has recovered yet and 01 has died, Budgam 11 positive cases with 09 Active Positive and 02 recovered, Pulwama 03 positive cases with 02 Active Positive and 01 recovered, Shopian 14 positive cases-all Active Positive, Kupwara with 23 positive cases-all Active Positive, Ganderbal with 05 positive cases-all Active Positive, Kulgam with 05 positive cases-all Active Positive and Anantnag with 01 positive case, who is Active Positive.

Similarly, Jammu has 23 positive cases of whom 20 are Active Positive and 03 have recovered, Udhampur 19 positive cases of which 14 are Active Positive, 4 recovered and 01 died, while as Rajouri 03 positive cases of which 02 are Active Positive and 01 recovered, Samba has 04 positive cases  and all are Active Positive and a single positive case has recovered fully in Kishtwar district.

The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.

Highlighting Prime Minister address to the Nation in which he has sought support of people in seven things, the bulletin requested people to follow the  same for containment of COVID-19.

Prime Minister in his address urged, “Take special care of the elderly in your homes, especially those who have chronic disease. We have to take extra care of them, and keep them safe from Novel Coronavirus. Completely adhere to the ‘Lakshman Rekha’ of Lockdown and Social Distancing. Please also use homemade face-covers or masks without fail. Follow the instructions issued by AYUSH ministry to enhance your immunity. Regularly consume warm water, ‘kadha’. Download the Arogya Setu Mobile App to help prevent the spread of corona infection. Inspire others to download the app as well. Take as much care of poor families as you can. Especially try to fulfill their food requirements. Be compassionate towards the people who work with you in your business or industry. Do not deprive them of their livelihood. Pay utmost respect to our nation’s Corona Warriors – our doctors and nurses, sanitation workers and police force.”

Meanwhile, according to the Advisory issued in the media bulletin, the general public has been urged to stay indoors, strictly implement social distancing measures, disclose recent travel history to COVID-19 affected countries and report any contact with positive cases voluntarily. The Advisory asked people to follow the rules of lockdown with utmost sincerity until 3rd May 2020.

The general public has been advised to avoid unnecessary visit to hospitals, in case anyone develops fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, seek medical advice promptly by calling on COVID-19 helpline numbers so that they can be provided correct medical advice and directed to the right health facility, if needed.

The Bulletin informed the general public that in case of any emergency people can avail free ambulance services 24×7 at their doorsteps by calling on toll-free No. 108. Pregnant women and sick infants can avail free ambulance services by dialling toll-free No. 102.

Furthermore people can contact 24×7 toll-free national helpline number 1075, J&K COVID-19 helpline numbers; 0191-2549676 (UT level Cell for J&K), 0191-2520982, 0191-2674444, 0191-2674115 (For Jammu Division), 0194-2440283 and 0194-2430581 (For Kashmir Division) for support, guidance, and response to health-related queries on novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

People have been asked to take basic precautions for personal hygiene; frequent hand washing with soap & water; and observing coughing & sneezing etiquettes. Furthermore according to the advisory people have been asked to wear mask or face cover while moving out of home.

The General Public has been advised to strictly follow the advisories issued by the Government from time to time and are urged to rely only on the information released by the government in this regard through the daily media bulletin to print and electronic media.

People are advised to refrain from spreading rumours and pay no heed to them at the same time.
