4-month-old baby among 11 new Covid cases in Bapu Dham colony, Chandigarh counts 159

All infected already home quarantined as their family members had earlier tested positive

Chandigarh, May 9: A four-month-old child was among the 11 new Covid-19 cases reported from Chandigarh on Saturday. All the new cases have been reported from Bapu Dham colony in Sector 26, which has emerged as an epicenter of the virus infections in the Union Territory.

According to officials, the new cases also include two and six-year-old children. They all are already home quarantined as their family members had earlier tested positive. With this, the total count of Covid cases in Chandigarh has gone upto 159

On Friday, the city had recorded its second death due to Covid. The patient, a resident of Hallo Majra, had died at the ICU of the GMSH in Sector 16, on May 6, but his test came  later on Friday, which was positive for Covid.

The man was referred from the Civil Hospital in Sector 45 to the GMSH last Saturday with the condition of severe anaemia. He was also suffering from severe acute respiratory illness.
