Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Team of Govt. Polytechnic Jammu distributes Masks

Jammu: The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) team of Government Polytechnic college Jammu which consisted of faculty and students visited the five villages that it has adopted to create awareness about the Covid-19 pandemic and measures to be adopted to avoid its spread. During the visit, the team interacted closely with the Sarpanch, Panchs and local residents and handed over sanitized homemade masks to Medical officers in the adopted village by the institute.
Er. Sanam Gupta, member of UBA team of college handed over a packets of masks to Dr. Seema Aijaz, Medical Officer at Govt. Health and Wellness Center, Basi Kalan. The mask was handed over in the presence of Ex. Chairman Municipality Bari Brahmana, Sh Pushp Raj.
Pankaj kumar Angral, member of the UBA team of college handed over a packet containing 200 masks to Dr. Bawani, Medical Officer at Govt. Ayurvedic Dispensary, Khandwal. The mask was handed over in the presence of Sh Sonu Singh Sarpanch of Khandwal village.
Balwant Raj Banmotra, member of UBA Team of college handed over a packet containing 200 masks to Dr. Sneha Koul, Medical Officer at Govt. Ayurvedic Dispensary, Mukhra. The mask was handed over in the presence of Sh Som Nath Sarpanch of Mandal village.
Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of the UBA team. He further informed that the masks have been prepared by the local tailors and then these masks were thoroughly sanitized before handover to the Medical Officers in adopted villages by college. UBA Team of college engaged the local women tailors of the villages in making home-made masks out of cloth which gave them an opportunity to earn and overcome financial hardship that they have been facing in current COVID-19 crisis.
Also, Ms Surkha Rani and Ms Sanjogita Manhas, Fashion Designing instructors and students of the college were also engaged in making homemade masks since lockdown and distributed among NGOs, local residents, individuals and hospitals in the neighbourhood.
Er Ajay Thapa and Er Jasdeep Kaur, Co-ordinators of UBA team of the college informed that all the material cost and labour cost was provided to the local tailors to make home made masks and similar work is in progress in all other adopted villages by the institute. The students of the institute had also played a pivotal role in spread of information on Covid -19 through digital sources while preparing various posters, raising meaningful slogans and many such similar activities.
