Eco Clubs to be strengthened in schools under Samagra Shiksha: Dr Samoon
Winners for Online Poster Making Competition organized by Samagra Shiksha announced
JAMMU, JUNE 07: Principal Secretary School Education, Dr Asgar Samoon today announced that Eco Clubs in the schools would be strengthened and asked SAMAGRA SHIKSHA to develop a roadmap to designate ‘Enviro-Diplomats’ and ‘Enviro-Facilitators’ out of the teaching faculty.
Dr Samoon stated this during the results of Online Poster Making Competition which was held on the eve of World Environment Day, 2020.
On the occasion, he asked Project Director SAMAGRA SHIKSHA Abhiyan, Dr Arun Manhas to explore for some kind of convergence and association with other Departments like Forests, Ecology & Wildlife, Lakes & Waterways, Remote Sensing, Pollution Control Boards etc.
The results were announced today by SAMAGRA SHIKSHA. This year’s theme of competition was ‘Biodiversity’ wherein more than 2000 children all across the Jammu and Kashmir and even from other States/UTs including Assam, Uttrakhand and Chhattisgarh participated through online mode.
Seeing the overwhelming response, Dr Samoon expressed accolades to the children for showing interest towards environment protection. He announced that Computer Tablets shall be given to the winners and e-certificates to the runner-ups.
Divyanoor Sharma of VIII Standard from Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School bagged first position whereas Tanuj Samaddar of Class X from S.E.R.S Public School, Assam and Suhaib Ashraf of Class X from MMI Shamsipora, Anantnag School stood at 2nd and 3rd positions. Those who won the consolation prizes are Mohammad Hafeeq Ul Murtuza, Arpit Salathia, Anvi Choudhari, Adnan Majid, Muskan and Mori NishaBen Ajitbhai. Besides, Special Jury Award was also given to Shivendra Kumar of Class VII from Govt. Middle School Dogra Hall Jammu.
Dr. Samoon further stated that students studying in Government Schools are really talented and department is consistently taking steps for providing them with such platforms for boosting their self-confidence.
He also said that Protection of Environment is the need of hour especially during this Covid-19 situation when health and hygiene is the top priority worldwide. He added that there is a serious threat to Biodiversity due to anthropogenic interventions which is consistently resulting in shrinking of Gene Pool and extinction of key species across the World; thereby disturbing the Ecological balance.
He also appreciated the efforts of Project Director SAMAGRA SHIKSHA Abhiyan, Dr Arun Manhas to organize such events for students of Government Schools.
Meanwhile, Dr Manhas also congratulated all the students who participated in the event.
Deepa Soni Bhalwal, renowned Visual Art Artist was the Key Judge on the occasion.
Enthralled upon the marvellous work done by the kids, she announced that she will impart training to one of the special child Shivendra Kumar enrolled at Dogra High School, Jammu.
