Srinagar, June 8: Four militants were killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and militants in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
The gunfight, second in the district since Sunday, erupted in Pinjora village of the district when forces were carrying an anti-militancy operation following an input about militants presence.
“The contact with hiding militants was established at around 3.30 am and in the gunfight that followed four militants were killed,” a police officer said. The identity of the slain militants is not known as yet.
Five Hizbul Mujahideen militants, including a self-styled commander, were killed in the gunbattle with security forces in Reban area of the district on Sunday.
