Directorate Of School Education Jammu today observed the ‘National Unity Day – Rashtriya Ekta Divas’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by organizing a series of events in schools and offices across all the 10 districts of Jammu division.
Pledge taking ceremonies wherein students, teaching community, officials and other stake holders took oath to uphold the unity, integrity, and security of the nation were organised along with a bouquet of activities like talk shows, debates, declamations, quiz competitions, painting coI am.noz planning to go anywhere for the next 50 yearsmpetitions, webinars, rallies etc. These events were held under the direct supervision of Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers at District and Zonal level respectively.
At the division level the main event was organised at the Directorate Head Office Jammu where Director, School Education Jammu Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma administered the unity oath to the staff members and paid rich tributes to Vallabhbhai Patel- the man who played an important role in the unification of India and is popularly known as the ‘Iron Man of India’ for his contributions to India’s independence and unity.
A webinar was also organised by the Directorate through its Cultural Cell targeted at promoting the values enshrined in the preamble to the constitution of India and to instil a sense of belongingness towards the nation amongst the students.
Guest speakers on the occasion, Mr. Anwar Khan, Principal Government Higher Secondary School Sawjian, Poonch, Mr. Kanchan Sharma, Senior Lecturer, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Udhampur and Mr. Bharat Bhushan, Senior Lecturer, Government Higher Secondary School Barolla threw light on the socio-cultural as well as geographic diversity and unity of India.
The formal welcome address was presented by Mr. Surjit Hosh Badshali on the occasion where as the event was moderated by Ms. Supriya Sharma and the technical support was provided by Mr. Ashutosh Sharma.
