‘PADHE BHARAT – 100 DAYS READING CAMPAIGN’ :
KATHUA STUDENTS & TEACHERS SHOW ENTHUSIASM
Jammu: Under the banner of GOI’s PADHE BHARAT- BADHE BHARAT program, School Education Department of District Kathua undertook a campaign under the name & style, ‘PADHE BHARAT- 100 Days Reading Campaign’ which saw huge participation of students and teachers.
This campaign is specifically aimed on promotion of joyful learning with a focus on reading & writing at a younger age in a stress-free environment. The program was launched by union education minister of India, Sh Dharmendra Pradhan at the national level and consequently by Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma for the Jammu division schools and is being supervised by Chief Education Officer Kathua Mr. Prakash Lal Thapa in the District Kathua schools. The programme is scheduled to hold various activities upto 10th April, 2022.
Also, the program promotes creation of ideal environments such as libraries & reading rooms along with quality books & other reading materials suitable for children of all age levels& hassle-free distribution of reading material.
Under the PADHE BHARAT 100 Days Reading campaign, the week between January 17th, 2022 to January 22nd, 2022 was scheduled for reading & reciting poetry of choice at primary & middle levels along-with story reading & role play as the protagonist of the story but with a different & self-imagined climax. Similarly the activities have been planned on weekly basis for the 100 days.
The program was enthusiastically received and participated in by both the teaching & student communities of district Kathua. Under the instructions & superb guidance of Sh. P.L.Thapa, CEO Kathua & able supervision of Smt Monika Khosla, District Co-ordinator & Zonal officers Sh. Pawan Vivek & all ZNOs, several teachers & students of various schools participated in the prescribed activities via mix modes though it was largely attended by the participants through virtual mode, owing to the ongoing pandemic & restrictions.
Worth mentioning are the staff & students of HSS Chak Kahna, HSS Sumwa, HS Palli, HS Chak Handa, HS Sialna, HS Banhore, HS Lower Rajwalta, HS Dinga Amb, HS Sandhar, MS Plail &UPS Dambra along with others. Smt Kusum Lata, ZICC, zone Sallan also spoke and sensitized about the campaign at HS Dinga Amb and emphasized about the importance of joyful and stress-free reading & learning.
The campaign also works in tandem with the goals of National Education Policy (NEP, 2020) & as a part of GOI’s PADHE BHARAT – BADE BHARAT which is regarded as a milestone country wide initiative implemented under ambitious Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. PBBB initiative has already impacted the national education standards by raising the literacy rate of India & positively providing access to primary education to maximum possible children with its effective outreach measures & the PADHE BHARAT- 100 Days Reading Campaign is already proving useful in fulfilling the aim of creating keen & self-sufficient readers & writers.
