Cultural & Education Cell, DSEJ Kathua organizes online folk songs programme

Kathua: The team of Cultural & Education Cell, Kathua of DSEJ organized an online program on folk songs of Jammu & Kashmir.

The program was broadcasted live on Facebook & is available for offline viewing as well.

Sh. P.L. Thapa, CEO Kathua graced the programme as Chief Guest which was moderated by Ms. Monika Khosla, District Incharge, Cultural Cell Kathua and technical supervision was provided by Dr. Dushyant along with Sh Manish Kashyap.

ZICCs from Kathua, Barnoti, Billawar, Bhaddu, Hiranagar & Marheen co-ordinated the program under the supervision of Mr. Pawan Vivek, DRG Kathua & Ms. Anita Pangotra, Cultural Ambassador, District Kathua.


The program was attended by numerous viewers from education department as well as other sections of the society.

The participants of the program were students from different schools of the district who presented melodious folk songs in traditional languages. The performances of Shallu, Himanshi, Shivani, Ricky Sharma, Sonu Kumar, Dhruv Kumar were watched & appreciated by the viewers. The participants were well trained & supported by their respective mentors.


Mr. P.L.Thapa, CEO Kathua, appreciated the participants & thanked their respective mentors namely Ms. Jyoti Sambyal, Ms. Shephali Singh, Mr. Sudesh Kumar, Mr. Shaveta Chambyal, Ms. Nidhi Jasrotia & Ms. Sonia Hans.

The CEO also emphasized on the role of co-curricular activities as an important part of overall development of students and said that in today’s tumultuous times of stress, disease & restrictions, one needs a tonic of positive entertainment to keep himself balanced and motivated. He also appreciated the staff of Cultural Cell, DSEJ Kathua and urged them along with all stake holders towards such programs and requested maximum participation of the students.

He also appreciated Ms. Khosla in particular for taking initiatives and making such endeavors a success. He also promised his unconditional personal and departmental support for such programs as they also act a platform for students to showcase their talents as well as a platform to learn about culture and heritage.
