Surya Namaskar’ Closing Ceremony Organized on Zoom Virtual Platform by Resource Center,District Kathua

Kathua: Under Prime Minister’s FIT INDIA movement, the Surya Namaskar event was organized by Government of India at a national level which began from January 1, 2022, lasted for 38 days and concluded today on February 7, 2022.

The main objective of this routine was introduction of yoga at school levels & to fill the body and mind with positive energy and improve mental as well as physical health in the testing times of ongoing pandemic. Also, it once again strengthened the world-wide belief of coronating Bharat as yoga guru of & around the world.
The President of the District Resource Center (DRC) of Kathua, Shri Pavan Vivek ji took this initiative at district level and due to the vision and good co-ordination of Chief Education Officer, Shri P.L.Thapa, it was successfully done & implemented all the schools of the district.

Various yoga activities were performed around the schools of the district under the FIT INDIA movement during these 38 days. The concluding event of the program was also largely successful.

It was organized as a two-day event on 6th and 7th February 2022 during which on 6th February, Joint Director of Directorate Education Department, Jammu Division, Hon’ble Shri Hemraj Pakhru ji, Divisional Nodal Officer Shri Govind Sharma ji, Chief Education Officer Kathua, Shri PL Thapa ji, DRG Shri Pavan Vivek ji, Shri Ravi Kumar ji and Suresh Gupta ji from Indian Institute of Yoga and other dignitaries and educationists were present.

In the function, full routine of School Namaskar was performed at various schools of the district & collaborated on Zoom virtual platform by DRC, Kathua.

In the program almost all the schools from primary school to secondary level were in touch with Zoom link.

Regional Nodal Officer, Sh. Sutinder Gupta guided the attendees about Surya Namaskar & performed full routine for prescribed eleven times with great expertise.

The routine of Surya Namaskar consists of 12 asanas. Sh. Sutinder Gupta’s role on both the days was amazing. In between, he also briefly explained the name of each asana and its benefits. He also shared that by doing Surya Namaskar as a part of our daily routine, we may be able to develop strong mental & physical abilities within us.


Ms. Sushma Singh from Indian Institute of Yoga was also associated in today’s program. Nodal officer for district Kathua, Shri Rajiv Kumar ji also contributed in the event. Chief Education Officer Shri PL Thapa ji, despite being very busy, joined the program and called Surya Namaskar a good effort.

He said, “Yoga is a wonderful way of life which combines human values with health. Yoga plays a major role in harmonizing our body & mind. He also extended best wishes for the successful conduct of the event.

The enthusiasm of all the principals, head teachers, teachers and students associated with the program was clearly visible.

Technical Assistant of (DRC) Kathua Shri Deepak Sharma ji also played a key role in the event. DICC Ms. Monika Khosla ji shared note of thanks to all attendees at the end of the session.
