Srinagr: Ex-Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti broke her silence on Bjp’s decision to withdraw from the coalition govt. withiut even discussing or informing the PDP.
Mehbbooba Mufti said that her party had chosen to ally with BJP after careful thinking and planning as Modi had won a resounding mandate and we expected him to use that to solve the issues of the people of the state.
She said that PDP did not choose to form the govt. in 2014 for want of power as had that been the case then even Congress and NC had offered their support and PDP could have formed the govt. with these parties too.
She further clarified that the actual reason of forming the govt. was to ensure that Article 370 was not touched and PDP in that sense had fulfilled the promise made to the electorate of J&K.
While replying to a question, she said that the agenda with which her party had joined the govt. had been achieved and Prime Minister visiting Pakistan was one of them.
Saving article 370, ensuring that 11000 FIR’s are revoked, ensuring unilateral ceasefire, extending offer to talks on kashmir issue are some of the chief objectives with which her party went in and had managed to achieve, she added.
Mehbooba also denied any possibility of PDP probing any further coalitions with other political parties. With NC also denying to skate any claim at forming the govt., governor’s rule seems to be the only option left for the moment. Congress had earlier refused to extend support to PDP and ruled out forming govt. along side Mehooba Mufti’s party.
