Jammu: The Directorate of Physical Education, Central University of Jammu organized an annual sports meet COMBATICA 2022 on May 20-21, 2022. The felicitation ceremony of the same was conducted on 24th May 2022 A total of 1908 students participated in various events i.e. Marathon, Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Kho-Kho, 100m race, 200m race, 400m relay race, Long Jump, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, Shotput.
The prize distribution ceremony was formally inaugurated by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu. The Vice Chancellor lauded the efforts of organizers for successfully organizing the COMBATICA-2022. He encourages the Directorate of Physical Education and different coordinators to focus on building the qualities like sportsmanship, discipline, and zeal among the students for their holistic development.
Mr. Rakesh Magotra, Additional Secretary, Youth Services & Sports Department J&K (UT) was the chief guest for the felicitation ceremony, and Mr. Kuldeep Handoo, Deputy SP, JK Police & Dronacharya Awardee J&K (UT) was the guest of honour. Mr. Rakesh Magotra congratulated the students and encouraged them to bear the qualities of sportsmanship. He informed the students to take the benefit of the recently formulated Sports Policy of UT. He also congratulated the organizing department and encouraged the participants to take the maximum benefits from the policy. Mr. Kuldeep Handoo congratulated all the winners and participants and encouraged them to be involved in sports activities rather than falling into drugs. He emphasized that there is a need to promote more sports activities in educational institutions.
The felicitation ceremony of the Annual Sports meet was started with the welcome address by Dr. Yashwant Singh, Director, Directorate of Physical Education and Registrar (i/c) of the University. He informed the audience about the significance of sports in students’ life. He briefed that more than 1700 participants participated from different Departments in 17 different indoor and outdoor events. In Cricket total of 10 teams participated and a team of the department of CSIT led by Mr. Inam-ul-Haq won the tournament. The cricket women’s team led by Ms. Manpreet won the finals. In Volleyball team led by Mr. Karthik Charak won the tournament. The table tennis men’s category was won by Mr. Vasab Gupta and Miss Roqsana Batoon won the match in the women’s category. In Kabaddi Men team led by Mr. Rajak Dogra won the tournament. In Kabaddi women’s team led by Ms. Latika won the tournament. Kho Kho men team led by Mr Mohd. Farooq and Kho Kho women’s team led by Chahat Mahajan won the tournament. In Marathon Prasuail, Sakshi Thakur was the winner in the women’s category, Prof. Rasal Singh, and Dr. Shaveta Kohli were the winners in the faculty category Mr. Ankur Sharma and Ms. Kairavi was declared 1st in the non-teaching category.
The other organizing committee members of the annual sports meet 2022 include Dr. Neerendra Kumar, Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Dr. R. Sudhakar, and Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Assistant Directors of the Directorate of Physical Education. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Shaveta Kohli, the Convener of the event. She thanked all the dignitaries and other teaching and non-teaching staff for their support to make this event happen. She thanked Mr. Madhu Sudan, Co-Convener of the event, and his entire COMBATICA-2022 team for their efforts to make this event a great success.
