KATHUA 10-09-2022. A first-time-ever five-day celebration solely dedicated to the teaching community concluded today in the schools of district Kathua. The mega event started on the eve of 70th Teacher’s Day on the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvpalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice-President of India and the second President of India, who was also a great scholar, teacher, and renowned philosopher. In continuation of the Teacher’s Day celebration, a week-long celebration was observed with enthusiasm in schools, colleges, and educational institutions across district Kathua. Various activities were observed in which the students and the teachers participated with equal enthusiasm. On day one, a special assembly was organized in the institutions, which was followed by prayers and offerings of floral tributes in remembrance of the great visionary Dr. Radhakrishnan. The students and teachers also participated and spoke on the life and teachings of Dr. Radhakrishnan as well as other great teachers. The activities of the second-day celebrations were dedicated to the achievements and contributions of great teachers and the role of a modern-day teacher as envisioned in the National Education Policy-NEP2020. Many events highlighting the significance of a teacher and honoring their work towards society were organized in the institutions of the district.
The schools in the district organized Symposiums on the Role and Achievements of Teachers in society. On the third day of the celebrations, many teachers and students spoke on the occasion as well as participated in essay writing competitions, poster-making competitions, drawing competitions, debate competitions, and role-playing at the school level. The students and teachers also participated together in fun activities such as musical chairs, spoon races and sack races.
Many zonal level representatives such as Block Level Officers, Sarpanches, ward members, and other socially influential personalities from different zones of the district visited the schools of their zone and interacted with the staff and students of respective schools and also promised to support the education system and the students in any way possible.
Continuing the celebration. On the fourth day, different inspirational films were screened for the school children at different schools and wherever the provisions of the screening were not possible, several plays and cultural events for the same theme were organized which was thoroughly enjoyed by young children. The event was concluded on the 5th day with Singing and dance competitions organized at different venues at school and zonal levels and felicitation of the recognized teachers. Some schools also organized volleyball matches with mixed teams of teachers and students. In many schools, special functions were recognized for the retired teachers who had dedicated their lives to education and making the life of their students better.
Mr.P.L. Thapa, The Chief Education Officer of the district Kathua congratulated and thanked the teaching and student communities for making the celebration worth remembering for a long time. He said that since the role and contribution of a teacher in building a successful society are immeasurable, we as students have a moral duty to make their efforts worthwhile and make them proud by achieving the best in our lives.
