Poonch, August 30 : In a display of remarkable sporting prowess, the Director Poonch Campus Prof Rakesh Vaid has secured a commendable victory by winning medal in Table Tennis (Mens) in the University Employees (M&W) tournaments.
Prof. Rajnikant, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu, was the Chief Guest whereas Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean Planning, Prof. Rahul Gupta, Registrar University of Jammu, Prof.Neelu Rohmetra Director DD & OE, Prof. Prakash C. Anthal, Dean Student Welfare were the Guests of honour on this occasion.
The outstanding performance of Director Poonch Campus at the tournaments has not only showcased exceptional sportsmanship but has also set an inspiring example for the entire academic community.
With sheer dedication, perseverance, and a true passion for the sports, Prof Rakesh Vaid emerged as a shining star in the table tennis event.
Every year National Sports Day is observed on 29th August to commemorate the birthday of Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. Born on 29 August 1905 in present-day Prayagraj, UP, Major Dhyan Chand was the captain of the Gold medal-winning Indian hockey team at the Berlin Olympics in 1936.
Participating in the University of Jammu Employees (M&W) tournaments, Director Poonch Campus displayed remarkable skill and determination, competing against fellow university employees.
The triumph in this competition stands as a testament to the Director’s commitment to both their professional and sporting endeavors.
Prof Rakesh Vaid expressed gratitude to Directorate of Physical Education University of Jammu especially to Director Sports and Physical Education Dr Daud Iqbal Baba for organising such event in the varisity. “The accomplishment serves as an inspiration to students, staff, and faculty members, motivating them to pursue excellence in all aspects of life,” he said.
