Doda: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) J&K conducted an online orientation session today as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2024, observed from October 28 to November 3 under the theme, “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity.” The session aimed at raising awareness on anti-corruption practices within the Education Department, especially among those handling departmental funds.
In his opening remarks, SSP Vigilance Sh. Ayaz Ahmed Sheikh highlighted the importance of transparent procurement practices through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, in line with the General Financial Rules (GFR) 2017. The ACB J&K provided a detailed overview of the GeM procurement process, addressing key areas to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to best practices within the department.
This initiative by ACB J&K seeks to foster integrity and ethical conduct, reducing opportunities for corruption and financial irregularities. The orientation educated stakeholders on current procurement guidelines and the importance of following them to strengthen the department’s internal control mechanisms.
The session was attended by Chief Education Officer Doda, Sh. Parkash Lal Thapa; District Vigilance Officer Dr. Anis Ahmed; and over 60 officers and clerical staff of the School Education Department, Doda. Participants concluded the session by taking a pledge to uphold transparency and integrity within the department, aligning with the core values promoted during Vigilance Awareness Week 2024.
