Rajouri: The School Education Department successfully conducted the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test (FLNAT) 2024-25 under the Nav Bharat Saaksharta Abhiyan (ULLAS – Adult Literacy Programme) in District Rajouri on Sunday. The examination was held under the overall supervision of CEO Rajouri, Sh. Bishamber Dass, with a strong focus on ensuring smooth execution and monitoring of the assessment process across all 15 zones of the district.

A total of 509 examination centres were set up across the district, with over 6500 learners appearing for the second phase of FLNAT 2024-25. The initiative is part of the Central Government’s efforts to combat illiteracy by providing non-literate individuals aged 15 and above with essential literacy and numeracy skills.

To ensure proper monitoring, CEO Rajouri, Sh. Bishamber Dass, constituted Cluster and Zonal Level teams involving Principals, ZEOs, and Headmasters, who oversaw the examination process at different centres. Additionally, DIET Rajouri formed separate monitoring teams for effective supervision of the test. A special exam centre was also established at BHSS Rajouri to facilitate learners from families shifted from Badhal.

FLNAT 2024-25 assessed candidates on reading, writing, and numeracy, with each section carrying 50 marks and a minimum of 33% required for qualification. The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aiming to enhance foundational literacy and numeracy skills. Qualifying learners will receive certificates from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), recognizing their achievement.

Prior to the assessment, government teachers conducted literacy surveys to identify illiteracy hotspots and ensure targeted interventions. Furthermore, teams from SCERT Jammu inspected various examination centres to ensure smooth execution.

DNO ULLAS, Sh. Umesh Sharma, highlighted that in the first phase of FLNAT, over 9426 learners participated and received certificates, and this time, more than 6500 learners appeared for the second phase. The continued participation reflects the success of the Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram in District Rajouri.

CEO Rajouri, Sh. Bishamber Dass, commended the efforts of all stakeholders—teachers, administrators, and education officials—who played a crucial role in ensuring the successful organization of FLNAT 2024-25. He reaffirmed the Education Department’s commitment to promoting literacy and empowering individuals through education.
