Women Empowerment Through Digitization of Self-Help Groups

Jammu, March 24 : In a significant step towards ensuring transparency and efficiency in Self-Help Group (SHG) transactions, a comprehensive training session on digital platforms was conducted for Cluster Coordinators and Chief Development and Empowerment Officers (CDEOs) across all 10 districts of Jammu Division. The training, covering 148 CD Blocks, was held at Panchayat Bhawan under the overall supervision of Dr. Shubhra Sharma, Mission Director of J&K State Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKSRLM).

The valedictory session of the training program was presided over by Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Additional Mission Director, JKSRLM. She emphasized the importance of digitization in ensuring real-time data access, accountability, and seamless record-keeping for SHGs. Highlighting the benefits of the training, she acknowledged the participants’ feedback and reiterated the crucial role of women in India’s development journey.

“India is on the verge of becoming a developed nation, and empowering women—especially in rural areas—will be a key driver of progress,” Ms. Kaur stated. “By enhancing their skills and integrating digital tools, rural women can gain economic independence, and the Mission will continue to act as a catalyst in their empowerment.”

During the event, trainers, office staff, and Nodal officers were appreciated for their contributions toward the successful completion of the training program. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency of SHG operations, fostering greater financial inclusion and self-reliance among women across Jammu Division.
