Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attacked the Opposition for what he said is its politics of vote bank at the cost of development.
Speaking at an event in Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi said, “It is unfortunate that today there are political parties who are trying to misuse the name of Kabir, Ambedkar and Gandhi for their selfish interests.”
He said there are some parties who don’t want peace and development in the country but want unrest. “They think that if there will be unrest, they will be politically benefitted. Such people are cut off from their roots,” he said.
He also accused the Opposition of obstructing the triple talaq bill in Parliament because of their “selfish vote-bank politics”.
Hitting out Akhilesh Yadav, he said the previous government in Uttar Pradesh was only interested in the bungalows for its ministers and never worked for ensuring housing for the poor.
Taking a further dig at the Opposition, and Congress in particular, he said, The game for power is such that the party that imposed Emergency and many among those who opposed it, are today joining hands to come to power at any cost.
