Five dead, three injured after cab plunges into gorge in Bandipora

At least five persons died and three other suffered injuries in a road accident in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday.
An official said a passenger van carrying passengers from Bandipora to border town of Gurez fell into a deep gorge near Tragbal on Bandipora-Gurez road.

He said five persons traveling in the ill-fated vehicle bearing registration JK01F/9574 died on the spot while three others were injured.

The official said that the injured were immediately shifted to a hospital where the condition of one of them is stated to be critical.

The bodies were taken to the hospital for medical-legal medical formalities, he said.
The deceased were identified as Sajad Ahmad Lone S/o Abdul Salaam R/o Kangan Ganderbal (45 Years), Rubeena Begum W/o Sajad Ahmad R/o Kangan Ganderbal, Moin Sajad S/o Sajad Ahmad R/o Kangan Ganderbal, Arjumand Sajad D/o Sajad Ahmad R/o Kangan Ganderbal and driver of the vehicle, Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh S/o Gulaab Sheikh R/o Sardab Gurez.

“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations were taken up,” said the official.
