Scientific Advisory Committee meet held at KVK Pulwama

PULWAMA, JULY 04: Scientific Advisory Committee meeting was today held at Krishi Vigyan Kender Malangpora here.

The meeting was chaired by Director Extension Sher-e-Kashmir Agriculture University Shalimar Srinagar Dr Mushtaq Ahmad.

District Development Commissioner Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar, who was the chief guest on the occasion, stressed on better coordination among the line departments in disseminating latest technological know-how among farmers so as to give a boost to the productivity of crops in the district.

He said that KVK has the mandate to research at local level in their catchment area and should bring out their recommendations to the farmers.

He assured full cooperation and support from the district administration to the KVK for widening and expanding its working spectrum in the larger interest of the farming community in the district. He also advised the farmers to follow scientific techniques in their fields so that they can earn more from their minimum land.

The Director, while underlining the need to hold a need-based brainstorming and interactive sessions on problems identified with regard to low production in Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and allied sectors, stressed upon scientific interventions so that maximum number of farmers are benefitted.

He stressed for the close coordination between the line departments so that the farmers can avail more benefits and information regarding latest scientific techniques in agriculture and allied sectors.

Earlier, the DDC released three books viz, Significance of Spices, Importance of Nutritious Diet in Old Age People and Pros and Cons of Machines and role of Custom Hiring Centre. The books have been published by KVK Malangpora, Pulwama.

Agricultural Scientists from SKUAST, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, and Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, and District Sheep Husbandry Officer, officers from line departments, progressive farmers and farm women from different parts of the district were also present on the occasion.
